Glazes and Phases in Abstraction (SOLD OUT)

PaintSpace NOLA, New Orleans, LA

Looking to give your paintings more richness and depth? Discover the magic of glazing!

Explore how transparent layers of color can transform your work—adding subtle luminosity, enhancing form, and creating that captivating sense of depth that draws the viewer in. Whether you’re new to the technique or ready to refine your approach, glazing opens up endless possibilities for vibrancy and visual harmony in your paintings.

Work with abstract concepts and build an exciting mixed media composition. Through art demos, talks/group discussions, and exercises we will play with different techniques, tools, and approaches to give you new tools to enhance your individual artistic voice.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Play Over Perfection

Step into a non-competitive space where the goal isn’t the final painting—it’s the joy of creating. We’re taking it back to play, where curiosity leads the way and no one’s keeping score.

Learn, Experiment, Explore

Enjoy painting demos with lively Q&As, dive into fun exercises (there may or may not be dancing), and explore different glazes, mediums, and mark-making tools. Every moment is about discovery, experimentation, and letting your creative instincts take the wheel.

Paint Big, Trust Yourself

You’ll have plenty of individual paint time to build layers, make intuitive choices, and find rhythm in the push and pull of color and texture. It’s a judgement-free environment designed to help you loosen up, get messy, and make magic out of chaos.

I’ve always believed that art should feel like an adventure, playful, a little unpredictable, and full of joy. There’s just nothing like the buzz in a room when a bunch of creatives come together, letting go of perfection and diving into the process with open hearts. In this workshop, I’ll be your guide as we explore, experiment, and see where the paint and our curiosity take us!

It is important to note that it is not necessary to purchase everything. If you have supplies similar to anything on the list or something you prefer to use in your practice, please bring. I am mindful of how expensive art supplies are and will be happy to share my tools or work with you in using what you bring.
